Sign Language for Divers
|

Accurate communication with your dive buddy makes your dives both more enjoyable and safer. Divers have invented many signs to supplement the standard set of diving signs and signals. And over the years many "sign language for divers" books have been published.

SeaSigns has taken a different approach however and has created a course with supporting training and review materials. SeaSigns certified instructors teaching a standardized set of 112 signs ensure that all divers, from all parts of the country, learn to form the same signs correctly.

The signs are designed to be a standardized underwater signing vocabulary. They are based on American Sign Language (ASL), Signed English, and accepted diving protocol. Existing signs were used when available. When a new sign was needed it was designed according to ASL rules and approved by a nationally certified sign language interpreter who is also a diver.

This seven hour class will add over 100 signs to the standard set you learned in your dive training. The SeaSigns' "Fun and Safety Signing" course includes a mixture of safety related signs and signs that help you communicate with your buddy about the environment.
