| Open Water Course |   | Open Water SCUBA is the name used for the entry level diving course. The YMCA Open Water SCUBA course is comprehensive blend of home-study, classroom lectures, pool skill development and open water training dives. |
| Sign Language for Divers |   | A good dive includes detailed planning and anticipation of potential problems,
but unexpected things that either make us smile or give us a reason to be concerned can
occur.
The basic set of signs and signals that all divers learn can limit your ability
to effectively communicate with your buddy.
When you complete this six hour course, you and your buddy will have learned more than 100 signs that will make your diving safer and more enjoyable. |
| Advanced Diving Program |   | Two advanced training courses are available in one program.
Advanced Open Water is an extension of your Open Water course that adds five supervised dives - each with a different focus or objective. The YMCA's Silver Star Advanced course combines classroom diving theory with specific dives that apply and re-enforce the classroom material. |
| Dive Refreshed Course |   | Maintaining the level of knowledge and skill
learned during a diver's initial Open Water training is important for continued
safety and enjoyment of the sport. Try to make at least 12 dives per year on trips
no more than 6 months apart. If it has been awhile since your last dive consider updating
your skills with this refresher course.
The Dive Refreshed course is a short review of essential knowledge and water skills with a supervised open water dive following the reviews . |
| Divemaster |   | Divemaster is a leadership certification that teaching the knowledge and skill necessary to supervise certified divers
in the open water and work with an instructor in teaching open water classes.
The course includes classroom, pool and open water training that leads to a "Divemaster in Training" status. As a Divemaster in Training you will then perform the duties of a divemaster while being supervised by an instructor. |
